Conspiring elements involved in May 12 carnage: Waseem

KARACHI: Advisor to Chief Minister for Home, Wasim Akhtar, has said that Quaid-e-Azam wanted Pakistan as a state where all communities had the equal rights.

He said while parliamentarians of MQM are fighting for the rights of Sindh on the issues of water, power and NFC, conspiracies are being hatched for creating lawlessness in the city, which, however, would be foiled with the cooperation of all communities.

Speaking at a function organised by Pakistani Bengali Action Committee here Friday, the Advisor said that MQM speaks for the rights of 98 per cent people and this was not being liked by conspiring elements and as a result riots were engineered on May 12 under an organised conspiracy to harm development of Sindh and peace in Karachi.

He said the people of Karachi are now quite conscious and would thwart all such machinations.

He assured that problems of Pakistani Bengalis would be solved on priority basis and for this purpose meetings are being held with Pakistani Bengalis Action Committee and proposals are being prepared in the light of the same.

He said Bengalis are living here for the last 36 years and playing their role in the development of Pakistan while working in fisheries, garment factories and other sectors.

He told them to erase the word of Bengali and call themselves as only Pakistanis.
